Theatre and film camps are a great way for children to explore literature in a fun and creative way. Kids will transform into a superhero, a princess, or their favorite storybook character as they bring popular stories to life on stage or on film at North Texas Performing Arts exciting theatre programs! With learning opportunities for grades K-12, there’s a spot for everyone to learn from our professional directors, actors, and singers who have worked everywhere from Broadway to L.A. This year’s fall and winter break camps include: Creativity Camps for grades K-5, Intro to Acting for grades 6-9, 1-Week Film Production Camp for Grades 6-12, and Deaf Theatre Production Camp for Grades 1-8.

Check out our camps during school district off-days. These day camps are themed around popular children’s stories and promote learning through creativity. Each day, students will actively bring a different story to life through visual and performing arts. Activities may include story dramatization, improvisation, theatre games, movement, pantomime, and various theme-related arts and crafts.

Intro to Acting – Grades 6-9

Students will develop the key skills and vocabulary of acting and performance. Students will learn basic acting techniques and exercises that prepare them to audition for and perform in any production.

Studios 1-Week Film – Myths of the Gamekeeper – Grades 6-12
Plano

This fun and exciting film-creation experience is perfect for all skill levels wanting to experience the art of filmmaking. The film will be performed and produced by NTPA students and directed by industry professionals over one week, and the final film will be released online at the conclusion of the production.

Deaf Theatre Production Camp – Frozen Adventures – Grades 1-8

Deaf and hard of hearing youth grades 1-8 participate in theater games and activities while learning theatrical skills, music, choreography and artistic ASL. During this camp the students will create a production for parents and friends based on the beloved story of a princess who sets off on a journey alongside an iceman, his reindeer, and a snowman to find her estranged sister whose icy powers have trapped their kingdom in eternal winter. Performance for parents and friends on the last day of camp.
