For high school students with a passion for art and design, Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) offers pre-college programs designed to spark your imagination and prepare you for future success. As The University for Creative Careers, SCAD provides incredible opportunities to explore new artistic avenues while working alongside peers from all over the world.
SCAD offers two immersive pre-college programs for high school students: SCAD Summer Seminars and SCAD Rising Star. These programs allow young artists at all levels to create and grow under the guidance of experienced instructors.

SCAD Summer Seminars
SCAD Summer Seminars are perfect for current high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors looking to develop their creative vision through hands-on art and design workshops. This program offers an engaging and supportive environment where students can explore their artistic talents and gain valuable educational experience.
SCAD Summer Seminars are the real deal. If your high schooler is passionate about creativity, why wait until college to get started? Beyond the classroom, students get a taste of life at SCAD through organized social and cultural activities. SCAD Summer Seminars are held at both the Savannah and Atlanta locations from June through July.
SCAD Rising Star
For high school seniors eager for a true college experience, SCAD Rising Star offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity. This four-week program is designed for students ready to take their artistic skills to the next level while earning college credit.
SCAD Rising Star students enroll in two college-level courses, allowing them to build or enhance their portfolios while experiencing university-level coursework. Whether attending in Savannah or Atlanta, participants have access to SCAD’s cutting-edge facilities, including classrooms, computer labs, studios, and production suites. In addition, SCAD libraries and galleries provide further inspiration and research opportunities.
Students who choose the residential program live in a SCAD residence hall and enjoy meals at a SCAD dining hall, offering a full immersion into campus life. This experience provides a glimpse into what it’s like to be a SCAD student while fostering independence and creative growth.
